Congratulations to Alan Eason
Snowsport England has awarded Alan Eason the Robert Hovey trophy for his outstanding contribution to English cross country skiing.
About Alan Eason
Alan began his skiing with London Region Nordic Ski Club and went on to race internationally for over ten years, representing Great Britain at two World Championships and over 100 FIS events. Alan is now one of the UK's top cross country ski instructors and is also a Nordic Tutor for Snowsport England and holds BASI & APSI instructor qualifications.
In the winter he runs his own company Totally Nordic, as well as teaching on the Snowsport England Kvitavatn Nordic Skills Week. In our summer he heads down under to run the ski school at Lake Mountain Resort in Australia [he’s second on the left in the website photo].
About the Robert Hovey trophy
Robert Hovey presented his trophy to the English Ski Council (now trading as Snowsport England) to mark his retirement as Chairman of the Nordic Key Committee. It was to be awarded to people or organisations that have made a substantial contribution to the sport of cross-country skiing in England.
Robert Hovey is a keen orienteer and cross country skier and a long-standing member of the Lakeland Cross Country Ski Club.
LRNSC Deputy Chairman, Paddy Field, was also awarded this trophy in 1998 in recognition of his work as first Chairman of the Nordic Key Committee (1984-86) and of his international work as a FIS Technical Delegate.
