9-12 December Early-season cross country ski trip - Tromsø, Norway
https://www.solofemalewanderer.com/blog/troms-cross-country-skiingAbout this cross country ski trip
Tromsø is one of the furthest north places in the world to ski, and it’s the venue for the Masters World Championships at the end of February. So Adam Pinney will be travelling there on Wednesday 9th December and leaving on Saturday 11th December, to get in some early-season training and to try out the Masters tracks.
This trip would suit anyone going on to the second club trip to Beitostolen which starts on the 13th December, but it’s also open to anyone wanting to ski for a few days. There should be plenty of snow (Tromsø receives between 0.5 and 1.5 metres of snow each year) and, because of the Gulf Stream, temperatures are nowhere near as cold as you might imagine (-1 to -5 oC in December). The tracks are lit, so limited daylight is not a restriction.
Travel & accommodation
You make your own travel arrangements andliaise with the organiser re accommodation. There’s a flight from Gatwick at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, arriving in Tromsø at 15:30 via Oslo. Accommodation which is likely to be in an AirBNB place near the tracks. If travelling on to Beitostolen, the flight back to Oslo leaves Tromsø at 10 a.m. on Saturday morning.
