LRNSC & Snowsport England Membership Changes

At the end of August Snowsport England [SE], our governing body, unexpectedly announced that it was changing its membership offer and launching new membership packages which would come into effect on 1st November 2025. The new membership packages offer a range of benefits at different levels. SE's rationale for these changes was that they would better support everyone within the snowsport community, primarily with improved insurance cover and better benefits.

The key difference is that individuals now need to join SE, rather than clubs paying an annual affiliation fee which covers members for public liability and a small number of other benefits. Clubs still have to meet specific criteria to affiliate to SE.

As a result, Committee members, along with those from other SE clubs, have devoted a significant amount of time to attend meetings with SE CEO James Arnold and his team, and to attend webinars to understand and clarify the new arrangements. Consequently SE has made adjustments to the membership packages, details of which are progressively being announced.

Pending clarification of these key questions, the Committee has agreed that for 2025-26 LRNSC will include the cost of the basic SE 'Green' membership in its current membership fees and handle the necessary administration of this for members.  This means that there will be no increase in the cost of LRNSC membership for this SE membership year [1/11/25-31/10/26], and the Club will continue to be affiliated to SE and have essential public liability cover. During this period individuals will also have the option to upgrade their SE membership according to the activities they wish to participate in and the benefits they require.

At the present time we await more information from SE to enable us to understand and agree how we will process these changes at Club level.  Once we have the necessary clarifications, the Committee will review how best to implement them and provide members with a fuller explanation.
