Update on Hillingdon Cycle Circuit

Negotiations about the new circuit licensing arrangements continue and it is assumed that in the interim the old licence conditions still apply and we can therefore go ahead with our booking on 18/4.  However there is a chance that the local authority will disagree with this view and we will have to cancel at short notice.  Any booking for paid-for sessions on that date will therefore be refunded or exchanged for an alternative session should that happen.

Covid rules mean that anyone wishing to attend the session on 18/4 will have to book their place in advance for any of the acitivities on that day as as the overall numbers at the track are still restricted.

Hillingdon Cycle Circuit - a message from our Chair

As you may know there has been a communication that only cycling events will be able to book Hillingdon Cycle Circuit in future but this is not the final say on the matter.

We have been in discussion with the relevant authorities about our presence there for some months. There was a serious accident between a walker and a cyclist, as well as other incidents on the circuit which you may have heard of. Those in charge are making decisions to try to best serve the community and also run a safe circuit.

Christopher Richards has been heading our campaign and is making good progress to make the points that we are a safe discipline which has involved the local community and is active in the management of the circuit. There are promising signs that these arguments are being listened to.

If members have any specific comments on this matter please email me directly rather than using social media which may prejudice negotiations in this complex matter.

We benefit from and contribute hugely to the circuit and will leave no stone unturned to continue our presence there.

Return to Club activities

According to the government's roadmap out of Covid restrictions we should be able to resume organised Club activities in April, assuming the circuit has opened in line with their schedule.  Fingers crossed!

If you want to learn to roller ski or improve your skills you can see our proposed calendar and indicate your interest in a taster or course - formal booking will open once the lifting of restrictions has been confirmed.

Latest update on restrictions from Snowsport England

Please see the this table from Snowsport England detailing the latest information effective from 20/12/20.

All our roller ski venues are in Tier 4 where group exercise is not allowed - see this infographic from Sport England.

At the next committee meeting on 10/1/21 we hope that revised restrictions will enable us to confirm Club activities for the first quarter, or at least the next month.

In the meantime stay safe and healthy - Happy New Year!

Hillingdon roller ski sessions can continue under new Covid regulations

Although the government has introduced new Covid-19 Tier regulations and all London boroughs [of which Hillingdon is one] are now in Tier 2, outdoor exercise like our sessions can continue - you can see the specific guidelines from Snowsport England here.  Also we have to follow Hillingdon Cycle Circuit hirer's guidelines which means advance booking for all sessions is essential.

In addition to our individual training and practice sessions, our beginner, intermediate and children's roller ski courses will take place on Sunday [18/10] then 1 & 15/11, 6/12.
