Come roller ski-ing in Hampshire/Surrey

Want to roller ski with a friendly group of people who are working towards physical and technical improvement ready for their snow trips?  There’s a structured programme of practice and skiers of any standard are welcomed.

The aim is to give equal time to classical and skating – recently the focus has been on extending length of glide and now gentle speed work is being added to the programme. The group reports that no times were taken but the group were all breathing heavily and found parts of their lungs that they didn’t know they had!!

Sessions take place every Saturday afternoon from 2 - 4 pm then it's time for cakes and tea chez Field followed by the kitchen table being used as a workbench to attach bindings, shorten poles and sharpen tips.

Locations vary so for more details please contact Hilary or Paddy on 01252 626339 or e-mail paddyfield@ski-nordic.co.uk

Sign up for roller ski races now - 27/9 & 17/10

Team sprints 27/9 - now on any FIS compliant skis

Test your pace in our autumn races at Hillingdon Cycle Circuit and get valuable practice for on-snow events.

The September race is essentially a fun interval session - team sprints in skating technique, on any FIS compliant skis, so you can use your fast skis.  They start with a one lap time trial. Individual placings in the London Series are determined on this. This can also count as a lap record attempt.

Teams of two will then be made up, based on the above results. These team sprints will probably be run as two massed start races, depending on numbers.

Afterwards there will be some short (500m) knockout sprints on the same skis.

Electronic timing for October 17

The October 4 hour event will be timed electronically, courtesy of the cycling community, who have loaned the kit to us for the day. So take this opportunity to clock up the laps when they should be recorded with total accuracy.

For each race, the entry fee is £10.00 on the day or £6.00 in advance [+£5.00 insurance fee for non SSE affiliated club members].
