What's it like to participate in a cross country ski marathon?

Is taking part in a cross country ski marathon hard work?  Looking at the picture of smiling Club member Kwasi Debrah in the German Konig Ludwig Lauf on page 21 in the latest Worldloppet Magazine, you wouldn't think so!  Copies of this publication are mailed Worldloppet members but if you don't belong to this sports federation of international ski marathons, you can view it online.
