17/10/2021 ROLLER SKI THE CAMBRIDGE BUSWAY - 10/20/40km
10am 17 October 2021- NEW DATE & TIME
[subject to any Covid restrictions at the time]
Join Club members for a 40km round trip from St Ives - Cambridge - St Ives, or just 10 or 20km if you catch the bus from Longstanton or Cambridge. It's a great opportunity for a longer roller ski on smooth tarmac alongside the Busway through undulating Cambridgeshire countryside.
You can ski at your own speed as we will ski in 2-3 groups according to ability/preferred skiing speed. We won't leave anyone behind but less experienced skiers or those who prefer a more leisurely ski should aim for a shorter distance and plan to use the bus to return or get to the lunch point. Skiers should be comfortable with gentle ups and downs, able to control their speed and manoeuvre round obstacles.
Bring drinks and something to eat as there's no opportunity to buy any until you reach Histon [approx 16km from St Ives] which is where groups usually meet up for lunch. You can choose to take a packed lunch or The Station House cafe should be open. On return to St Ives, Tom's Cakes is a popular choice for tea and cake [open until 4pm].
NB Helmets are mandatory [for insurance purposes for all Club activities].
