On 1 November we wrote to all our current members outlining how Snowsport England's membership changes would affect them, this is what we said:
"Snowsport England changes & how they affect LRNSC members
As you may have read in our recent email update, or on our website, Snowsport England [SE], our governing body, unexpectedly announced that it was changing its membership offer and launching new membership packages which come into effect on 1st November 2025. SE believes these new packages better support and reflect the needs of everyone in the snowsport community.
What’s different?
The key difference is that individuals now need to join SE, rather than clubs paying an annual affiliation fee. This ensures that members of affiliated clubs are insured for public liability, while clubs must still meet specific criteria to affiliate to SE.
You therefore need to be an individual member of Snowsport England as well as London Region Nordic Ski Club. It is a common requirement in many sports that you belong to their National Governing Body as well as a local sports club.
New membership packages launched
Committee members have devoted a considerable amount of time to understanding and discussing the implications of these changes with SE, and how they will be managed through SE’s Sport 80 system. The new packages and colour coded benefit tiers are now finalised and published at https://www.snowsportengland.org.uk/membership-details/.
Which SE tier package do I need?
● All LRNSC members need the basic Green tier for public liability insurance.
● You may need a higher tier depending on the Club activities you choose to participate in. A specific example is that to go on a Club On-Snow trip you must have the Blue tier membership. A guide to tier requirements for different Club activities is attached. [ NB These criteria have been set by Snowsport England's insurers not the Club itself.]
● Or you may choose a higher tier because you would like to enjoy a wider range of benefits.
What actions has LNSC taken to help members with the changes?
● The Club is covering the cost of SE’S basic Green tier membership, and handling the necessary administration, for all members, where LRNSC is their primary club, until 31/10/26 [SE’s membership year runs from 1/11-31/10].
● For those same primary club members who have committed to our on-snow trips in the 2025-26 season, we have paid to upgrade them to SE’s Blue tier which covers this Nordic skiing activity in Europe.
● Junior members under 11 on 1 November have been allocated to the Blue Junior tier which SE provides free of charge for their first year.
We have chosen to do this on the basis that current members joined the Club, or renewed their membership, and signed up to on-snow trips, in the expectation that the benefits offered by this SE affiliated club would continue in the year ahead.
Also, we wanted to facilitate the introduction of the new Sport 80 system for members and ensure that from 1st November the necessary insurance will be in place to enable the Club to operate.
What do you as an LRNSC member need to do?
Snowsport England is currently updating its Sport 80 system with our latest membership data and when this has been processed, individual members will receive an email to confirm that they are now a member of Snowsport England and give them a login link to create a password and access their account.
You should:
● follow the link to Sport 80, create your password and check the details on your account are correct, and
● download your digital membership card and make a note of your Snowsport England membership number as you will require these to book some Club activities.
You can also upgrade your membership to a higher tier [you pay the difference between your current tier and your preferred one] if you wish to.
What about my LRNSC membership?
To participate in our Club activities, you will need to renew your LRNSC membership as usual when you get a renewal reminder through the Member Mojo system that we use. LRNSC’s membership fees are payable annually from the date you join.
