Travel
From UK:
- Fly to Innsbruck with Easyjet or BA, or take the train - see The Man in Seat 61 rail travel guide.
- Fly to Munich and take the train from there - the journey is longer but fly with Lufthansa and your skis go free of charge if you register them in advance.
In Austria:
- From Innsbruck airport there is an airport shuttle bus service into the main rail station, ticket from a card only machine just outside the terminal to the left. This takes you to bus station in front of the main rail station from where you can continue by either bus or train.
- Take the Oetztaler 960 bus as far as Sillian Markplatz - journey time approx 2.5 hours. Change to the Sillian to Obertilliach bus no 965 from the stop directly opposite on the other side of the road. There is a convenient cafe if you have to wait.
Accommodation
- Obertilliach is our recommended base – there’s good choice from self-catering to hotels - check out the Tourist Office.
- For self-caterers there is a Spar supermarket and a renowned bakery.
- Eating out: Pizzeria Weberstube, Hotel Gasthof Unterwoger and other hotels.
