Photo: www.snow-online.comJoin us for a fun trip to the Seefeld ski area and enjoy a week improving your skate skiing on Tyrol’s beautiful high plateau. There will be two groups, each with a coach, to ensure you have plenty of technique input and personal coaching to make your skating easier and more effective.
Who the trip is for
This trip is for improver and intermediate skiers who already have some experience of skating.
You need to be a member of LRNSC or another nordic ski club affiliated to Snowsport England. If you're not a member of either you need to join our Club when your place is confirmed.
Improver Skiers: you have mastered the basics of skating on snow or on roller skis, and can confidently ski on snow on gentle terrain in classic or skate technique; you are able to ski for 4-5 hours a day including short tours.
Intermediate Skiers: you are able to skate on moderate terrain, have grasped different techniques and can ski comfortably on half or whole day tours
If you have any queries about the trip or whether it is right for you, please contact Dagmar or Mary.
About Seefeld
Seefeld is set in the very scenic Austrian Tyrol and is one of the most iconic cross country ski areas in Europe. The varied and extensive network of wide and well-groomed ski tracks make it suitable for all levels of skier.
Trails start from the ski arena in the town itself, and it’s easy to take the bus or train to nearby Leutasch and Scharnitz which offer different ski terrain and atmosphere.
The Skiing
There will be a ski session each morning and afternoon, wth the possibility of day tours, also allowing for time out to enjoy Seefeld and to rest when you need to. The coaching groups will each be a minimum of 4 people (to make the trip viable) and a maximum of 9.
Over the five days we will provide a mix of focused coaching and touring through the area to practice and develop your techniques, with opportunities for free skiing if you want. With two coaches we can tailor the groups to accommodate different skill levels and ski speeds. Depending on the group sizes and make up there may be some teaching in smaller groups to enable a focus on particular techniques.
Your Coaches
Mary Wray [L] & Dagmar Junghanns [R]Coaches: Mary Wray (improvers) and Dagmar Junghanns (intermediates).
Dagmar is a Snowsport England Level 3 Coach, and Mary is a Snowsport England & BASI Level 2 Instructor. Both have many years’ experience of teaching on snow and on roller skis. They love sharing their passion for cross country skiing and helping others develop their skills. They're both very experienced at leading groups of varying levels of fitness and ambition, and providing personal input to each skier.
On-snow they've worked together on several successful Club trips, and Dagmar also coaches for Snowsport England. They both also enjoy racing in cross country ski marathons - Dagmar's latest success was in the 220km Nordenskiöldsloppet, while Mary is a Worldloppet Gold Master.
